Jamaica hotels, all inclusives, resorts, small hotels, inns and campgrounds
Reggae music, white sand beaches and sky-high mountains on which grow some of the world’s favorite coffee. These are just a few of Jamaica’s finest attributes. What this tropical island is also known for is offering the most options for accommodations in the Caribbean. From affordable low-key to affluent luxury, from dip-your-toes-in-the-beach-sand to sleep-in-the-rainforest locations, from poolside buffets to butler service breakfast in bed, you’ll find it all in Jamaica. There are countless fine resorts, small hotels, quaint inns and guesthouses. There are all-inclusive and independent hotels that exude everything from old-world charm to contemporary wired amenities. Finally, there are full-staffed villas with all the comforts of home and campgrounds that cater to families and nature-lovers.
Jamaica is the land of all-inclusive resorts, a concept the island’s tourism industry pioneered. Singles, families and especially couples will find soup-to-nuts options on all you can eat, sleep and enjoy. One of the most popular types is the adult-only all-inclusive resorts. These are perfect for first or second honeymooners and serve up a selection of romantic restaurants, on-site amenities that include spas and watersports and off-site shopping and sight-seeing excursions. Many also own private islands or beaches perfect for the ultimate hedonistic escape – sunbathing ‘au natural’.
Small exquisite luxury hotels are concentrated along the coasts, especially in the area of Montego Bay. There are some lovely boutique hotels and bed-and-breakfasts in the less populated interiors of the island that make for the perfect quiet get-away. Private villas cater to the rich and famous and are also surprisingly affordable for families when priced on a per person, per night basis. Many of the most lavish villas are located on what’s called the ‘Jamaican Riviera’ or the island’s famed north coast.
Campgrounds, with tent sites, cabins or dormitory-style accommodations, are found in the Blue Mountains. There’s also beachfront camping allowed at some of the hotels in Negril, as well as in national parks, on the grounds of former coffee plantations and in botanical gardens. You’ll need to bring your own bedding and cooking utensils, but the chance to commune with nature is like living the dream of Robinson Crusoe meets Swiss Family Robinson come true.
It’s important to book accommodations in advance for the best rates and choice of rooms. This is especially true during the winter holidays. Small or independent properties may accept a bit of haggling over the cost, but a government-imposed 10 to 15 percent room tax applies to all accommodations and is a non-negotiable part of the price.
Search for small hotels in Jamaica. Search by rating, beach, nature, romance, catering, family, wellness, jammin', budget, or small properties with meeting facilities.
Find any hotel, resort, or any member of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association. To locate a hotel, use the sort options to narrow your search. Note that there are three types of hotel in the Jamaica Hotel Association's member list. In the — filter facility — tab, you will have the choice of:
